The shelter can be helped in other ways than just financially. With the amount of animals they currently have, Maite and Anyelo can use every bit of help they can get. Most of this help comes in the form of volunteers.

Maite and Anyelo even have plans for the future to change Anyelo's house into an accomodation for volunteers! But for now, going there still means you will have to find your own accomodation.

Most volunteers spend between 1 and 4 weeks at the shelter. Here you can do all sorts of stuff, from making toys to feeding the dogs. Of course there is also some more serious work to do, such as building extra dog houses and cleaning them. For an impression of the voluntary work, you can see the gallery below, or check out their facebook page!

A working day at the shelter starts at 8:30 am and ends generally at 12:30 pm. Of course, if you can't get enough of cuddling the dogs, you can always choose to stay longer.

If you are interested in spending a few weeks at the shelter, you can contact us at refugiodeperritoscusco@gmail.com

Give extra attention to sick or injured animals and the newly welcomed babies

Clean out the food bowls and water buckets and make sure everybody has water

Help build new houses for the dogs

Clean out the cages (not a pretty job, but it has to be done!)
